First of all, affiliate marketing is an incredibly competitive industry, and there is a lot to learn. An affiliate marketing eBook or program can only skim the surface of what you need to know, and will usually lead you to buy more “recommended” products. These are sales ploys, embedded within the pages of the so-called training manuals. For instance, imagine you just purchased an eBook that promises to teach you all that you need to know to make a fortune on Squidoo. You will probably encounter many industry terms that you don’t understand, such as “keyword optimization” or “niche marketing”. Naturally, the book would not be designed to teach you these vital skills, as niche marketing is not the topic of the book. However, once you have been made aware of how important it is to understand these concepts, the author of the eBook is more than happy to “recommend” a great product that will teach you all that you need to know. Of course the link to the author’s affiliate site is embedded in the pages for your purchasing convenience, and before you know it, you will be buying a product that claims to teach you how to make it big in these areas. Then that of course will lead you to something else, which will try to sell you something else. This can become extremely confusing, discouraging, and expensive.
Many times people join an affiliate program thinking they can throw together a quick website or blog and the sales will come rolling in. This is certainly not the case. To become successful as an affiliate marketer, you must learn the entire workings of the industry, including: how to choose a product and niche, the different types of affiliate marketing, how to perform market and keyword research, how to build a blog or site, Search Engine Optimization, the importance of relevancy, tracking your ads, and so much more. The idea that one eBook or training program can teach you all this is ludicrous. Also, the industry is changing so fast that most affiliate marketing training programs are outdated before they even become published.
So what is the solution? The best affiliate marketing training programs available are set up as online affiliate marketing schools. These schools provide various types of ongoing training tools such as: courses, eBooks, audio and video files, tutorials, one-on-one coaching, and more. One such school- which is actually an online affiliate marketing university- provides its members with all the necessary tools of the trade, including: pre-built websites, website builder and free hosting, keyword analysis tool, competition spyware, rapid-writer article writing software, complete niche research information and PLR articles within the chosen niche, (saves the affiliate hundreds of hours in research and data analysis), and more. It is important to note that there are two types of affiliate e books. One is that they promise to make us rich with their methods. The second is that they show us the methods that they used to make themselves rich. There is a big difference between the two, so please do determine which category the e book you are after, falls in. The first one which promises to make us rich is probably the most famous and yet the most abused e book.
Well based on my experience, I have never come across one that works, or even heard of one that works. Why? Well first look at the process they mentioned that will make you rich. They claim that all you need to do is either fill in the blanks of their program or follow their simple step by step instructions to create a profitable online business. The first one is totally worthless. There is no such thing as a program that will automatically generate money for you. Think about it logically, it is an online scam. The second one is also not worth much. Everything in the world is not constant and is always ever changing. Do you really believe that a set of predetermined instructions will work all the time and every time? The answer is no.
Now let’s look at the second category of affiliate e books, the ones that show you how they made it rich. These e books are usually much more valuable than those that fall under the first category. What they show are the methods and problems that you might face when trying to create your own online affiliate business. So the information that you might obtain could prove to be very effective to certain people depending on their business type. Why did I mention to certain people? Because it will not work for everyone.
Let’s say that you bought one of those affiliate e books on how to sell other e books. It will only prove useful if you applied it to sell e books and not other products. Other products, for example computer parts, will require a totally different type of strategy and approach. But even if you do sell only e books, it still doesn’t guarantee your success.
Even ebooks have different categories. And for each of those different categories the people who are interested in buying them are different, which means that the methods to approach them is also different. For example, a method to sell e books about medicine will be totally different to those for selling an e book about medicine.
The date of which the e books was released is also important. If the e book is over two years old, the methods shown inside might be obsolete as new methods and technologies arise in the Internet. So the next time you are planning to buy one of those affiliate e books, you might want to consider all of these factors first to ensure you get the most out of your money and to make sure you do not fall victim to one of those Internet scam.

I have been checking many affiliate product websites and they have a lot in common: Their sales page has pictures of expensive cars and homes, a “proof of earnings” such as checks showing 5-figures etc and an “easy” ebook that you need to follow in order to get rich. All this makes sure that their visitors convert at a high percentage and that the authors make a lot of money. Greed is always a powerful motivator.
Now, the author of the affiliate-marketing books always teaches people the right stuff. The only problem is, the information mentioned in the ebook is never complete. A huge problem with affiliate marketing ebooks is that the contain little or no information on how to get quality traffic to your website. This area of negligence makes it impossible for the reader to make money online.
A lot of ebooks simply mention “try to get quality traffic” or “your best best is to get relevant traffic” etc. They just tell you to buy traffic from AdWords, try to rank high in Google or submit your content to social bookmarking websites. But they fail to mention HOW to use those techniques in the right way to get the maximum traffic.
For these reasons, anyone who is new to affiliate marketing loses a lot of time and/or money by trying to follow what was mentioned in the ebook. You can have a fabulous affiliate website but if you have no traffic, you will make no money.
This article is not written to bash the authors of affiliate marketing ebooks. It is simply written with the intend to let you know what the inherent fault is when you read these kind of ebooks.That being said, you can make a lot of money online through your affiliate website if you simply understand how and where to get quality traffic to your website.
